Radiohead is ready to write new songs.

Radiohead Ready to Re-Enter Studio

written by: on October 13, 2011

Radiohead singer Thom Yorke revealed in a recent interview with Rolling Stone’s David Fricke that the band will begin working up new material in December at its studio in Oxford, England.

Yorke said he doesn’t know how the band will release the music, but he hopes to have the songs ready when Radiohead tours in 2012.

“It would be nice to make it all part of the flow and just enjoy it—not think about it too much,” Yorke told Fricke.

If released, the songs would be Radiohead’s first new material since The King of Limbs was independently released by the band as a download in February. Yorke discussed one of the songs, titled “Come to Your Senses.”

“We have this version of it. It’s a five-minute rehearsal, but it has the essence of what we need. We can get things together quite rapidly at the moment,” he said.

The band, which hasn’t toured North America since 2008, played two nights at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom September 28th and 29th.

Radiohead also made TV appearances this year on Saturday Night Live and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, as well as a special hour-long appearance on the Colbert Report.

Yorke will continue to be a busy man, as he also plans to finish his new Atoms for Peace album by the end of the year. The project will feature recordings from the 2010 sessions Yorke did with Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, who were members of Yorke’s Atoms for Peace touring band.

Yorke said the album will have lots of solo material, as well, but the singer admitted “it’s not good enough yet.”
