Soundgarden front man Chris Cornell plays solo acoustic.

Late Night Serenades with Chris Cornell, Cake and Deer Tick

written by: on October 13, 2011

Chart topping rockers got some late night talk show love last night. On October 12, Jimmy Kimmel Live featured Chris Cornell, while Cake stopped by the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and Deer Tick made its second appearance in two years on The Late Show with David Letterman.

On Jimmy Kimmel, Chris Cornell performed “The Keeper,” a new song from the Machine Gun Preacher soundtrack. This subtle acoustic track highlights Cornell’s emotional vocals.

On Craig Ferguson, Cake stopped by to play “Long Time” off of the band’s latest album, Showroom of Compassion. Cake has also played “Long Time” on Letterman, and Kimmel, in addition to Ferguson this year.

Deer Tick made its second appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, with the band wearing suits and sneakers for the performance. Deer Tick performed “Main Street” from its upcoming album, Divine Providence, which will be released on October 24. Singer John McCauley’s ragged vocals and storytelling are front and center for this performance while the band was joined by a horn section.
