The Walkmen Turn 10 in 2012

written by: on November 8, 2011

The Walkmen are celebrating their 10th anniversary with a few tour dates, a re-release of the band’s debut, and the boys have started working on their next album.

With all five original members intact, 2012 will mark The Walkmen’s 10th anniversary together.

The band is planning to release its yet-to-be-titled new album next summer with production being handled by Phil Ek, who previously worked with The Shins, Modest Mouse and Fleet Foxes, according to Pitchfork.

The Walkmen’s first LP, Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me is Gone, will be available for the first time on vinyl next year.

The indie-rock band’s sixth and latest album, 2010’s Libson, charted at No. 27 on The Billboard Top 100.

Members of the group grew up in Washington D.C., and most of The Walkmen have played together in bands since fifth grade, with three members originally from Jonathon Fire*Eater and two members from The Recoys, according to Artistdirect.
