Throughout his career, Dave Grohl has collaborated with an eclectic group of musicians: Kurt Cobain, Lemmy Kilmister, King Diamond and Bob Mould.
You can add two members of RATT to that list.
RATT singer Stephen Pearcy and guitarist Warren DeMartini have written a song with the Foo Fighters front man, Pearcy said Wednesday on Twitter. Pearcy said that the song is for an original project, not for a RATT record. The song was Grohl’s idea, according to Pearcy. More details about the song will be announced by Grohl.
The collaboration with Pearcy and DeMartini isn’t the first time Grohl has recorded with members of a metal band that struck it big in the 80s. Grohl played drums on “Watch This,” an instrumental track on former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash’s 2010 self-titled solo album. GNR bassist Duff McKagan also appeared on the song.
The pairing with Ratt comes while Grohl is on a break from touring with The Foo Fighters. The band is still promoting Wasting Light, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart last year and has since been nominated for several Grammys. The band begins a tour of Japan in March.
Pearcy is set to release a solo album later this year, and Ratt is currently demoing songs for a new album.
