Stream Lou Reed and Metallica’s New Album Lulu

written by: on October 24, 2011

Lou Reed and Metallica’s new album Lulu can now be streamed. Just head over to Loutallica’s homepage and hit play.

Lulu will be available world-wide October 31st and available in North America on November 1st.

We first got a taste of Loutallica with “The View,” which “features post-Black Album Metallica’s characteristic mid-tempo chugging mixed with a haunting, poetic vocal delivery from Reed.”

Lulu was inspired by German expressionist writer Frank Wederkind’s plays which focused on the abusive relationships of a dancer named Lulu. Before performing with Metallica, Reed originally intended the lyrics for a theatrical production in Berlin.

Metallica formed in California in 1981 and has sold over 100 million albums. Their latest album, Death Magnet, was released in September 2008. This free stream is a far cry from Metallica’s previously antagonistic attitude towards free downloads early in the last decade when the band took Napster, which kicked off the music downloading boom in 1999, to court in 2000.

Lou Reed’s prolific career began with Velvet Underground before beginning his own extensive solo career. Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Trio released its most recent album The Creation of the Universe in 2008.
