David Lynch’s new album Crazy Clown Time is now available for streaming.
Lynch has directed imaginative and disturbing films such as Eraserhead and Blue Velvet, and the music in Crazy Clown Time is as nightmarish and playful as his movies.
In her review for NPR Music Eleanor Kagan said “Lynch’s robotic monotone muses about everything from spiritual enlightenment to tooth decay.”
The album was produced with engineer Dean Hurley and features vocals from Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O.
While Lynch is known for his career in film, he has been experimenting with music for years. He helped compose the soundtrack to his television show Twin Peaks, and also lent his vocals to musical groups Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse.
On making the shift from films to music David Lynch told LA Weekly back in January that “I’m not a musician, but I play music. So it’s a strange thing.”
Lynch’s other creative endeavors include painting, photography, a daily weather report, and his own brand of coffee beans.
