Wild Flag singer/guitarist Carrie Brownstein and comedian/musician Fred Armisen are bringing their Independent Film Channel sketch-comedy show Portlandia on the road.
Portlandia: The Tour will feature the two co-creators, writers and stars of the TV show performing live music and comedy, in addition to clips of the show’s upcoming second season scheduled to start on Friday, January 6, 2012.
According to the show’s website, five of the tour’s six dates have already sold out, but there’s still hope for fans in Washington State as that’s the only show with tickets still available.
If you can’t get enough Wild Flag, be sure to check out their recent interview and live performance on WBEZ’s Sound Opinions.
Also, if you’re a fan of old-school punk and comedy, check out Armisen’s recently released 7-inch album from his fictional band Crisis of Conformity. The EP was based off a Saturday Night Live sketch in which Armisen, joined by Dave Grohl on drums, played an aging punk rocker who gives a final performance at his daughter’s wedding.
While known primarily for his comedic roles on SNL, the comedian played drums in the Chicago punk band Trenchmouth, and also played drums on three tracks off Les Savy Fav’s 2007 album Let’s Stay Friends.
