written by: on January 24, 2012

Are you ready for some Leonard Cohen? Cohen is back with Old Ideas and you can stream it a week early.

Head over to NPR to listen to Old Ideas before it hits the stores (digitally and physically) on January 31, 2012. Cohen has been making music for 60 years and Old Ideas is his follow up to 2004’s Dear Heather.

Cohen, now 77, is still drawing a very deep creative well. Cohen is a fascinating figure and his lyrical songs pull from spiritual, literary and  emotional sources. NPR has a fantastic profile on Cohen that touches on love, the novel Zorba the Greek and some lyrical highlights of Old Ideas.

For more great insights head over to the Guardian. Jarvis Cocker, front man for Pulp and a noted lyricist in his own right, interviewed Cohen in London for the launch of Old Ideas. Cohen adds even more insight to Old Ideas as well as his whole catalog. Cocker and Cohen discuss death, sexuality and smoking.

No word yet on tour dates for Leonard Cohen.
