LCD Soundsystem played its final concert on April 2, 2011, at Madison Square Garden in front of 19,000 dancing fans. The epic final show lasted almost four hours and featured surprise appearances from Arcade Fire, Reggie Watts, and more.
To celebrate that capstone performance, the band plans to release a documentary titled Shut Up and Play the Hits. The film chronicles Soundsystem frontman James Murphy in the days leading up to the band’s final show to the following day. Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace directed the documentary film.
Shut Up and Play the Hits will premiere at Sundance Film Festival later this month. Check out the trailer for the film below, but watch with caution, as things may get a bit emotional.
