The all-star lineup of Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, Gorillaz/Blur leader Damon Albarn and Fela Kuti drummer Tony Allen will reveal their new album to the world next month.

The band, known as Rocket Juice and the Moon, will release its self-titled debut on March 12, according to MOJO magazine.

The album will be released via the Honest Jon’s label, which Albarn co-runs. The MOJO article reports the group tracked 18 songs for the record, which includes guest appearances by Erykah Badu, M.anifest and the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.

Rocket Juice released some live recordings last fall. The live music is a grab-bag of styles, but Allen told MOJO the album itself is all funky, danceable music.

Allen also spoke about the band’s recording process, saying Rocket Juice doesn’t think about what they’re going to play. Allen said the band is free of mind and they all play at once.

In other news, Flea has been touring with the Chili Peppers since last August. The band had to postpone their upcoming North American tour while singer Anthony Kiedis recovered from foot surgery. The band’s tour now begins March 29 in St. Petersburg, FL.
