It’s begun. Dates for a handful of Chicago’s street fests have been announced with some big name bands scheduled to make appearances.
Do-Division Street Fest
June 1 – 3
$5 Donation
Kick off the summer right with the Wicker Park-centric festival, which has been expanded from two to three days this year. The 10-block long event will stretch down Division Street from Ashland to Leavitt, and will feature live bands (TBA), a sidewalk sale and lots of food.
Green Music Fest
June 23 – 24
$5 Donation
This eco-friendly festival will feature environmentally conscious bands, like Dinosaur Jr. and the Ravonettes, and will also include green vendors. More bands will be announced soon. The event will take place on Damen Avenue between North and Schiller.
West Fest
July 7 – 8
$5 Donation
West Town’s festival, cleverly titled West Fest, will showcase DJs and bands, but none have been confirmed yet. Last year this event brought about 60,000 people to the near North Side neighborhood on Chicago Avenue between Damen and Wood.
Taste of River North
July 20 – 22
$5 Donation
The TORN fest will take place just north of the Loop in Ward Park. Some of Chicago’s best cover bands including Headbangers Ball, Stache, Sixteen Candles and Almost Famous, will play the weekend-long event. More bands TBA.
Wicker Park Fest
July 28 – 29
$5 Donation
This hipster haven will no doubt include a live music bill to rival Pitchfork’s this year, but alas no bands have yet been confirmed. We do know the festival will take place on Milwaukee Avenue between North and Paulina.
Design Harvest
Sept. 29-30
Free
Though technically not a summer festival, the weather won’t be too cold to enjoy one last hurrah outdoors. This is the third year for Design Harvest, which will take place on Grand Avenue between Damen and Wood. As with most of the aforementioned festivals no bands have been announced, but live music is in on the menu. Check out this event if you’re into home design aesthetics.
