Apollo Effect to Make Chicago Debut

written by: on March 7, 2012

Canadian rockers The Apollo Effect will make their Chicago debut at the Elbo Room on Friday. But first, the band will kick off the second leg of its Escape Canada Tour on Thursday at the Penny Road Pub in South Barrington, Ill.

Formed in 2005, the band’s music, which tends to feature a mixture of heavy guitars and atmospheric keyboards, has appeared on MTV, HBO and even movies such as Resident Evil: Extinction.

Singer and guitarist Brent Lunney told Pop ‘stache he’s so glad to be playing Chicago this week he hopes to come back later this spring in support of The Apollo Effect’s upcoming album, Escape Plan.

“If we end up releasing this album in April or May, I can’t see why we wouldn’t plan something to come back down there,” Lunney said in a phone interview Tuesday evening. “Last year, we spent a little time in Chicago just hanging out and we absolutely loved the town, but to get the chance to play it proper like this will be amazing. We’re really excited.”

You can buy $10 tickets for the show here.
