We Are Trees – Girlfriend

We Are Trees play lovely uplifting pop music that is reminiscent of Grizzly Bear, though this Virginia beach group are not quite as complex. Building with dense instrumentation and lilting harmonies, these are lush pop songs that have been superbly arranged. Opener “Teenage Heartbreak” is perhaps the finest of this collection, a soaring ode to love and loss.

Bake Sale – Bake Sale

Washington three-piece Bake Sale have a terrific sound, combining reverb-heavy surf rock with dream-pop. Think Warpaint meets The Raveonettes. Both tracks are fantastic, though “Meanwhile” is the standout. From the opening line of “I was on the roof getting high…” to the swelling chorus, this songs suggests Bake Sale have great potential. Be sure to buy their brownies…

AgesandAges – Alright You Restless

Portland act AgesandAges play beautiful life-affirming pop. Full of harmonies, handclaps and soulful sing alongs, this energetic group of tunes is nothing short of a joyous listening experience. The influence of Born Ruffians is apparent though AgesandAges are more expansive. These songs are bright and bubbly, saturated with the summer of love.
