Perry's Stage Crowd at Lollapalooza 2011

Lollapalooza ’11: A Photographer’s Tale

written by: on August 23, 2011

The beginning of August in Chicago means one thing…Lollapalooza. Music fans both young and old descend on America’s greatest city to set it on fire. Living here, we feel as though Lollapalooza is just a little bit ours, something we can share with the rest of the world (or at least those willing to make the trip to the Windy City.)

These 20 photographs tell the story of musicians and fans alike. Chicago’s iconic Grant Park sets the scene as photographer Matt Avignone guides you through Lollapalooza 2011.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, this photo essay is worth 20,000. -Andy Keil
