Last week Trent Reznor released six free tracks from his score for the upcoming action-mystery movie The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
As part of a promotion to fuel pre-orders for the soundtrack’s full release later this month, listeners can fork over their email address at this website in exchange for about 35 minutes of Reznor’s ominous instrumentals.
This isn’t Reznor’s first film score.
The man behind Nine Inch Nails and his longtime producer/collaborator Atticus Ross previously worked on the award-winning soundtrack for 2010’s The Social Network, which chronicled the contentious rise of Facebook’s Mark Zuckerburg.
Much like Nine Inch Nails’ 2008 instrumental album Ghosts I-IV, Reznor’s TGWTDT soundtrack will come in a variety of flavors, including a digital download available Friday, and two physical options.
The latter two will include digital downloads and come either as a $14 three-CD digipak, or a $300 deluxe edition, which includes six vinyl records, an art book, a metal album cover, a USB pendant modeled after Lisbeth’s razor blade necklace, a poster, and an autograph from Reznor.
The CD ships out on Dec. 27th, so it probably won’t make a good Christmas gift. The deluxe release drops on Feb. 6th, which might work as an expensive yet mildly morbid Valentine’s Day gift.
