On February 17th in 1971 Johnny Cash guest-starred on This Is Your Life, while James Taylor made his TV debut on Cash’s variety show.

Johnny Cash stopped by the NBC hit This Is Your Life. This early rendition of reality television was steered by producer-host Ralph Edwards.

Each week the show would feature a celebrity as the guest of honor, and those close to the guest would stop by and offer anecdotes.

Cash was visited by friends, families and his better half, June Cash. A young James Taylor reached television audiences for the first time with performances of “Sweet Baby James,” “Country Road,” “Fire and Rain,” and the folk classic “Oh! Susanna.”

While the Boston boy showed off a full-fledged mustache and won the hearts of American viewers, Johnny Cash provided an hour of quality Cash time.
