The xx are back. After a quiet 2011, The xx have dropped the demo for “Open Eyes,” which was recorded at the same time as the band’s new album.
No word yet on whether this song will be on the as-yet-untitled sophomore release from The xx. While details are scarce you can visit The xx’s blog, which features plenty of music, pictures and other sources of inspiration for the new album.
While The xx as a band have been rather quiet, the same could not be said of Jamie “xx” Smith. Smith has been the breakout star of The xx in 2011. Jamie xx released We’re New Here, a remix album of Gil Scott-Heron’s I’m New Here. In addition to that, Jamie xx produced Drake’s “Take Care” remixed Radiohead’s “Bloom” while still having time to release his own songs “Far Nearer” and “Beat For.”
The xx released their debut, xx, in 2009. No word yet on The xx’s sophomore record other than that it is slated for a 2012 release.
