Springsteen to Tour Europe in May

written by: on November 29, 2011

On Sunday, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band posted full tour dates for the band’s upcoming 2012 European tour.

This will be The Boss and company’s first tour since the band’s longtime saxophonist Clarence Clemons died at the age of 69 back in June. Clemons, who was best known for his powerful work with Springsteen, was also featured in the video for Lady Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory” earlier this year.

Springsteen’s latest tour back in 2009 generated $167 million in ticket sales, which made him the third-highest grossing touring act that year just behind U2 and AC/DC, according to Businessweek.

The band is also working on material for a follow up to 2009’s Working on a Dream, but according to Springsteen’s website the new album doesn’t have a name or release date.

In other Springsteen news, the rocker’s 1984 award-winning album Born in the USA will be inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame next year alongside 24 other iconic recordings, including Bill Cosby’s comedy album I Started Out As A Child, the Rolling Stones’ Exile On Main St., and Paul Simon’s Graceland. Springsteen’s 1975 album Born to Run was inducted in 2003.

Tickets for most of the dates go on sale this week.
