Lollapalooza Has Sprung a Leak

written by: on February 15, 2012

The 2012 lineup for Lollapalooza, Chicago’s biggest music festival, has been leaked by a festival insider.

The mystery person revealed the headlining bands on Twitter over the weekend under the handle @LollaLeaks.

The identity of the bands were supposed to be kept secret until Spring, but the 2012 headliners will allegedly be Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, Beck, Beyonce and Sonic Youth. Lollapalooza is also rumored to be Sonic Youth’s last show ever.

Lollapalooza founder and Jane’s Addiction front man Perry Farrell’s stage, known as Perry’s Tent, will feature Skrillex in a set with Korn, Noisia, M.I.A and Knife Party.

Farrell was angry about the leaked lineup, and took to Twitter to retaliate at @LollaLeaks. The Lolla insider antagonized Farrell by asking Farrell how he would feel if the headliners’ names were dropped. Farrell responded by tweeting that @LollaLeaks “must have a small penis.”

The acts for the other stages were leaked as well, and festival-goers can expect to see The Shins, M83, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Sleigh Bells and Passion Pit.

@LollaLeaks is allegedly the same source who leaked last year’s lineup. Even though the acts haven’t been officially confirmed, music fans took to Twitter to voice their opinions on the lineup. “Please No” was @PaulyDee90’s response to the Beyonce rumor, while @MoRahn99 said, “oh god, please don’t say Beach Boys or Bruce Springsteen or Blink-182 or Blur.”

This year’s festival will take place in Chicago’s Grant Park on August 3rd through the 5th.
