On Wednesday, Coheed and Cambria drummer Chris Pennie left the band on amicable terms.

“I am very thankful for the years that I shared the stage with the guys and want to thank the amazing, supportive fans that I’ve met while on tour,” Pennie wrote in an official statement through music news site Noisecreep.

“But there are a lot of exciting projects on the horizon, in addition to Return to Earth and Fight Mannequins, that I feel require my absolute 100 percent commitment and attention. I feel that this is the right time to make that happen.”

Pennie appeared on the band’s 2010 release, Year of the Black Rainbow, which turned out to be the only studio album he played on with Coheed and Cambria. Pennie previously played drums for Dillinger Escape Plan.

Coheed and Cambria is now down to two members, vocalist/guitarist Claudio Sanchez and guitarist Travis Stever. Bassist Michael Todd was fired from the band in August after being arrested July 10 in Boston for robbing a Walgreens.

Police said Todd told a pharmacist he had a bomb and demanded Oxycontin. He was given six bottles, police said.

Last month, a new Coheed track, “Deranged,” appeared on the Batman: Arkham City video game soundtrack.
