Yellow Ostrich has a new video for “Mary (Alternate)” off of the band’s debut, The Mistress.
Yellow Ostrich started off as a project by Alex Schaaf and soon expanded into a full band. The New York by way of Wisconsin band has been plenty busy this year. This year alone, Yellow Ostrich signed to Barsuk Records, released The Mistress and toured with acts like The Antlers, Ra Ra Riot as well as Wildbirds and Peacedrums.
Yellow Ostrich’s inexhaustible energy and desire to create music has garnered praise and plenty of fans. The video for “Mary (Alternate)” is another take of “Mary” which you can listen to below. The main difference is that “Mary (Alternate)” sounds a little cleaner and loses the vocal harmony introduction.
Yellow Ostrich has also produced plenty of covers including songs by The Replacements, The National, Beach House, Yeasayer, Sharon Van Etten and Beat Happening. Our personal favorite is the cover of the classic Eiffel 65 “Blue (Da Ba Dee).” Stream it below.
