One of the Chicago area’s newest record labels opened for business on Sunday.
Artistic Integrity Records’ web store went live on the first of the year with its debut release, a split 12-inch record featuring solo work from former Alkaline Trio drummer Mike Felumlee and the popular punk band’s current bassist Dan Andriano.
While the split album has been available on CD since 2002, Artistic Integrity’s founder and owner Dan Wallach, who has a sizeable collection of Alkaline Trio vinyl, said this was a way for vinyl enthusiasts like himself to get access to some of his favorite songs.
“It’s not just the Alkaline Trio connection, if those six songs came from two artists that were not Alkaline Trio related I’d still want to have it to listen to on my turntable,” said Wallach, who lives in Skokie, Ill.
The Andriano/Felumlee split is available in three formats: your choice of blue or black vinyl plus download for $15 after shipping, or a bundle with both colors of vinyl and a download for $26 after shipping, or digital download only for $3.
Artistic Integrity, which gets its name from Wallach’s favorite TV show, Seinfeld, will focus on releases from more local punk and indie artists.
In a phone interview Friday night, Wallach said he has two more releases slated for this spring with tentative release dates.
“Everything I’m ever going to release is going to come out on a double date. So, New Year’s Day is one-one, April 4th is four-four, and the third release is going to come out July 7th, so that’s seven-seven,” Wallach said.
