You can now add Andrew Jackson Jihad to the growing list of musicians who’ve thrown their artistic support behind the Occupy Movement.
Yesterday, the folk-punk band released a song called “This is Not a War,” which contains lyrics equating Wall Street greed to an infection and the Occupy Movement to an “immune system reacting to a disease.”
Though the band has seen a rotating cast of members, mainstays Sean Bonnette and Ben Gallaty recorded the song a few weeks ago, alongside two more ditties, at an Arizona recording studio.
On the band’s blog Bonnette wrote the following:
“We admire the Occupiers commitment to non-violence and creating a fairer economy, and we hope that it continues until until it no longer needs to. This song is also kind of a prayer, wishing the greed that is undermining our country is motivated by love. I don’t want to believe that evil truly exists.”
The song was uploaded by YouTube user MrPWilliamGrimm last week, but it can be officially downloaded here.
