The Weeknd – “Montreal”

on December 27, 2011

Montreal

Late on December 21st, The Weeknd released Echoes of Silence, the third and final installment of its mixtape trilogy. The Toronto based R&B project, lead by singer Abel Tesfaye, quickly became one of this years most prominent young acts, landing its first two mixtapes near the top of almost everyone’s “best of” lists. If it released a little earlier, Echoes of Silence would have found itself right up there with them.

Some of the tape’s stand-out tracks include “D.D.” (a cover of Micheal Jackson’s “Dirty Diana”), Clams Casino produced “The Fall” and “Montreal,” with its echoing french background vocals. The Weekend plans to re-release the mixtape trilogy in 2012 as a remastered package. For now though, you can grab all three tapes as free downloads via Soundcloud.
