Glow Marrow – “Julian”
on July 31, 2012
The song “Julian” by Glow Marrow, an L.A. indie-pop duo, was clearly inspired by Animal Collective and its last album, Merriweather Post Pavilion. It’s not a bad thing, but there really is no getting around it. The track is comprised of layers upon layers of lush synths — ranging in sound from steel drum to dance-ready bass. It’s dense, but definitely not overpowering. Vocals are always front and center.
Glow Marrow will release a new EP, Braver Days, this September. If you’re a fan of Animal Collective and are willing to allow other artists into its space, definitely give it a chance.
