Nashville post-hardcore band Harper continues to present raw emotions with one of its most plaintive songs yet, “Bluu.”
“Bluu” is the result of primary vocalist Matthew Penfound taking the reigns, in contrast to his heavy collaboration with guitarist Ethan Rider in Harper’s debut EP, Get Home.
In the five-minute track, reminiscent of other spoken word post-hardcore bands like La Dispute, Penfound reflects on a lost relationship and the pain of feeling trapped and alone, ending on a note of peaceful triumph.
With a heavy dose of vulnerability, “Bluu” is a captivating display of music’s ability to serve as a form of therapy for both writer and listener.
