Heath, I still owe you lunch…

written by: on September 7, 2011

A few years ago, my friend Heath Jackson moved to Austin to do what he loved, play music. But, I didn’t have a chance to visit him before he moved back to Georgia. I plan to make my first trip to Austin, TX later this month for the Austin City Limits music festival. What would make the trip even better is if I could bring Heath along…

A year ago today, Heath was shot while stopping a burglar from robbing his house in Columbus, GA. Heath died in his driveway, fatally wounded by 21 year old Ricardo Strozier.

Heath was someone you wanted to meet, your life would’ve been better if you had. He spent his days as a DJ to support what he truly loved, playing his own music. Whenever he played a show, it was on one condition; he played barefoot

Heath Jackson was an amazing human being and he is truly missed, just take a look at his Facebook page. It doesn’t feel like it’s been a year. On my left wrist I wear a bracelet with Heath’s name and favorite Bible verse (Romans 5:6) and every time someone asks me about it, I get to share a little part of Heath with others. Thanks to Pop ‘stache, I have another outlet to share his music with the world.

Heath, if you’re reading this, I still owe you lunch.
