Decemberists album streaming on NPR

written by: on January 5, 2011

I am glad the Decemberists took a bit of a break. It’s been about three years since their last proper release studio effort The Hazards of Love. And now after getting some time away from them, letting their old records digest, we can go back to remembering why we liked these guys to begin with.

NPR has the entire new record The King is Dead streaming up on their site. A solid release where the band find themselves going less wanker prog and getting back to solid songwriting. I’m not going to do the thing where I call these guys “hyper-literate” or call out their big word usage. But Colin Meloy can really spin a fine yarn on a tune.

The tracklist is below and the album is officially out on the 18th. Read the official Pop ‘stache review of: The King Is Dead
