Best Coast and Wavves releasing a split 7″

written by: on January 3, 2011

Bethany Cosentino and Nathan Williams and their cat (and album cover star), Snacks, provided some of the most darling indie pop moments of 2010. They’re like the indie stoner rock power couple who, even if you don’t really like their music, you kind of want to hang out with them.

So it just kind of makes sense that a Best Coast/Wavves split 7″ would be just around the corner. It’s also not a big shocker that the record is called “Summer is Forever” and features a picture of a cat and aliens on the cover. These guys love their cat.

The two bands will be touring together this year, and the split will be available at their shows, as well as on iTunes. It features an unreleased Best Coast song called “When You Wake Up” and a Wavves b-side titled “Stained Glass (Won’t You Let Me Into Yr Heart).” The iTunes version sports some additional tracks – Best Coast’s “Crazy For You,” Wavves “King of the Beach” and opening act No Joy’s “Hawaii.” Album artwork and tour dates are below.
