We Are Pirates – “Canyon”

We are Pirates is a young indie electro-pop trio from Colatina, Brazil. Much like YAWN, one of our favorite Chicago groups, these dudes enjoy creating music with a combination of organic and synthesized sounds and instruments. In fact, their bio states, “the [group’s] production aims for the naturality of their members to use electronic and organic noises covering verses, often unconnected, as a way of revealing the world within their restless minds.”
“Canyon” bases itself around a hefty bassline, kick/snare combo and light cloud of Brazilian influenced percussion. It will really pull you in at the 1:00, 2:00 and 2:30 minute marks when We Are Pirates lets loose some insanely catchy synth breakdowns. Is it dance friendly? You betcha!
