The Ladybirds – ‘Shimmy Shimmy Dang’

on November 8, 2011

Shimmy Shimmy Dang

In their bio, The Ladybirds describe their music as being heavily influenced by the years 1954 to 1973. Their song “Shimmy Shimmy Dang”  mainly falls within the early part of the time frame, pulling from rockabilly and doo wop. What makes this group really stand out are Sarah Teeple’s vocals, which have a Karen O-like bite to them and sound more punk-rock than anything. It’s definitely a unique combination of sounds. You can hear more of the group on their sophomore album, Shimmy Shimmy Dang!, which released in early September.
