Ramona Falls – “Spore”
on March 12, 2012
Lead by Brent Knopf, former member of Menomena, Ramona Falls will release its sophomore LP, Prophet, on May 1st. The first single, “Spore” is about someone refusing to feel lonely. Lyrically and sometimes even vocally, the track may remind you of Death Cab for Cutie. Instrumentally though, Knopf states he was inspired by “Martin Gore of Depeche Mode’s dark chordal elements, a production style halfway between Tears for Fears and the Homosexuals.” It’s clear Knopf and the other members of Ramona Falls walk a thin line between experimental and melodic inde-pop, creating a sound that is accessible and intriguing all at once.
