AU – “Get Alive”
on March 8, 2012
After listening to “Get Alive,” it’s difficult to picture the band AU as only two people, Luke Wyland and Dana Valatka. Right from the start, as the crisp horns are introduced, it’s clear you’re in for something special. The layers of instruments slowly begin to swell — most notably utilizing a harpsichord, banjo, strings and percussion — and a beautifully intricate and eclectic orchestra suddenly surrounds you. Based on Wyland’s vocal tone and the instruments featured, AU sounds similar to a more experimental version of the band Fanfarlo. If you like what you hear, make sure to keep an eye out for the duo’s new album, Both Lights, which will release April 4th.
