Crossover artists walk a narrow line. One wrong step and they risk alienating some or all of their fans. ZZ Ward, an up-and-coming blues and soul singer out of Compton, will be walking that line in the very near future. It will be hard for both indie and pop consumers not to fall in love with and respect her Adele-like voice.

Her roots are actually in hip hop, working with Freddie Gibbs, Asher Roth and now, of course, Kendrick Lamar on her brand new track “Cryin’ Wolf.” It’s the first single off her new album Til the Casket Drops

, which releases October 16th.
