Hank Wood and the Hammerheads – “The Ghost”

“The Ghost”

In 2012, NYC punk ‘n’ roll powerhouse Hank Wood and the Hammerheads released “Go Home!,” an LP almost certain to age into a millennial punk classic, and one that found instant underground acclaim. This month, the garage ensemble’s second full-length record, “Stay Home!,” began to pop up on blogs around the Internet, just as a precious handful of vinyl copies simultaneously appeared in Brooklyn record stores (only to be snatched up by anyone lucky enough to recognize them).

But the similarities end with the title and album artwork– “Stay Home!” is something of a departure from its predecessor, owing to cleaner recording and more dynamic instrumentals. Regardless, Hank and his miserable New Yorkers haven’t lost their edge, which is great news for everyone (except, perhaps, for chickens… Uh, just Google it).

“The Ghost” is the first track off “Stay Home!,” available on vinyl from Katorga Works.
